This version of my amortization calculator is based upon my first attempt to write a CGI script in Perl, which dates back to 1997. I placed the source code into the public domain, and was surprised to have received thousands of requests from all over the world for the source code. I even received a mention in a real estate book published a few years back. I think people were drawn to its simplicity in design and use -- not to mention that it produced accurate results (although a few tried to dispute that). I now look at it in early-October 2005, and think how crude it is in its implementation. I guess the best testament to its design is that it's still being used after all these years.
