Remember how bad it was during the years of the Carter administration? Remember the gas lines? Remember the double-digit inflation (in 1980 it was 13.58%)? Remember the outrageous interest rates (on April 2, 1980, the prime lending rate was 20%)? Remember how the enemies of our nation ran roughshod over a weak and spineless pacifist peanut farmer from Georgia? I didn't think we, collectively, as a nation could ever outdo ourselves.
